Problem

Nets was managing a disjointed landscape of separate legacy portals. This created  a highly frustrating, disjointed experience for case handlers who had to bounce between systems and needed to keep in mind 5-6 different passwords.

To reduce costs and eliminate technical debt, we needed to safely sunset these legacy entry points without disrupting high-stakes, daily financial workflows.

Approach

I led the UX strategy to transition the separate legacy portals into a single, cohesive ecosystem. I made the architecture for data models and advanced table systems that kept the massive streams of high-density financial data clear, legible, and actionable.

  1. 01

    Audit & roadmap planning

I audited the legacy ecosystem, mapping core functionalities and complex dependencies to create a realistic roadmap based on user engagement and engineering feasibility.

  2. 02

    Collaborative research synthesis

Working closely with user researchers, I translated complex user pain points into a design strategy and mapped how users worked across different portals to ensure the new platform solved old usability bottlenecks.

  3. 03

    Ecosystem architecture

Partnering with software architects, I designed the layout, navigational hierarchy, and core interface models for the consolidated platform, building interactive prototypes to stress-test navigation for different user segments.

  4. 04

    Standardizing the UI framework

I reused the most efficient UX patterns from the legacy tools and created new ones where it made better experience.

  5. 05

    Validation & stress-testing

I coordinated with the research team to participate in the usability testing on core modules, ensuring new layouts fully satisfied financial security constraints and user speed requirements before deployment.

Outcome

This consolidation successfully cut down operational time and costs while establishing a highly efficient new benchmark for the fintech UX in the Scandinavian banking sector.

By acting as the primary translator between software architects, product owners, and banking SMEs, I kept the structural layout feasible without losing its user-centered focus.

Working at this scale reinforced that unification is not about creating only a clean look, it is about creating structure while keeping the data intact. Case handlers need access to massive amounts of data; the job is to create an interface robust enough to handle that weight while keeping cognitive load as low as possible.
