Role

UX/UI designer

I have been working with Nets, Scandinavia's main payment provider fintech. Nets provides solutions for Issuers, internal users and customers of banks. My role is to create portals for internal and external use. Due to the type of work, I can't provide screenshots or concrete use cases.

Problem

To reduce cost and user frustration the company decided to unify and sunset multiple portals creating one, coherent service.

Solution

Methods we used

  • User research
  • Competitive analysis
  • User testing

Responsibilities

  • Assessment and Planning:

I was part of the process to create a thorough assessment of all existing portals, identifying their features, functionalities, user base, and usage patterns. We determined the goals of unification, such as improving user experience, reducing maintenance costs, and streamlining operations. We prioritized the portals based on factors like user engagement, business impact, and technical feasibility.

  • User Research:

With the help of a user researcher out team tried to understand user needs, expectations, and pain points related to the portals. We gathered insights on what users like and dislike about each portal to inform the unification process.

  • Unified Platform Design:

Witht he help of architects, we created the architecture and interface of the unified platform. We created wireframes and prototypes to visualize the new user experience and ensured that the unified platform addresses the needs of all user groups previously served by different portals.

  • User Experience Design:

I designed a cohesive user interface that combines the best features and elements from the existing portals while maintain consistency in design, navigation, and branding to create a unified look and feel.

  • Testing and Quality Assurance:

The user researcher and I thoroughly tested the parts of the platform that has been already developed.

Reflection

During the last 2 years, I have learnt a lot both about the finance industry and how to work on a really large scale project together with stakeholders, SMIs, users and developers.
